Recently, the Raoul Wallenberg Institute held a workshop that brought together law and gender course teachers from around the world. The workshop aimed to develop new future initiatives and innovation in curriculum and improve the quality of current courses.

University teachers from Belarus, South Africa, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Sweden had the opportunity to share experiences, identify challenges, and develop professional skills.
Throughout the workshop, participants discussed how to identify relevant learning objectives, when designing law and gender courses, how to design a curricula and develop teaching methods that enrich the learning environment.

It was also a good opportunity to consider potential challenges such as issues of international communication, student’s motivation and how to teach students with different levels of knowledge. Participants said they appreciated the global network, valuable contacts made during the workshop and the chance to have teachers review their courses and provide feedback.

This knowledge sharing was a highlight for participant from Elena Abramenko, Head of the Department of Politology and Sociology, Faculty of Law, Francisk Scorina Gomel State University.
Having seminars where university teachers who teach law and gender can share their experiences on a regular basis will enable refine teaching skills and improve the quality of the curriculum, said Abramenko.

Olga Bezbozhna
Olga holds a Master Degree in International Human Rights Law and Intellectual Property Law from Lund University and a LL.M from Ukraine. She has experience working with the OHCHR in Geneva, Switzerland, the International Bar Association’s Human Rights Institute in London, and the Constitutional Court in Kyiv, Ukraine. Olga joined the Institute in 2014 and currently works with academic cooperation in Belarus.
